History of Artefact Produced as a commemorative handkerchief for the ‘Festival of Britain’ in 1951 and held in Battersea Park, London.
‘My family took me along to the festival, I was nine.’
Logo designed by Abraham Games.

Historian - 'The festival was held in London over various locations. Rowland Emett made devices that would be surreal and mechanical – he would make clocks etc…There were gardens, waterfalls and a funfair. There was also the ‘Dome of Discovery’ that inspired the Millennium Dome.
‘The Great Exhibition’ – lots of exhibitors displayed their goods such as the latest railway coaches, the latest aircrafts etc.. Most places around Britain had street parties to celebrate.'
Historian John Stedman

Special Memories ‘I remember going into the theatre with paper glasses provided to make things look more three dimensional. It all seemed amazing – particularly all the colours – they’ve really stayed with me – yellows and reds. We saw modern rooms and furniture. I went on a tree-top walkway.’
‘I lived in Portsmouth and my father got a free railway pass to get us up to London for the day.’
‘It reminds me of one of the nicest days of my childhood. It was one of the first days we had as a family after the war.’
