Artefact Description It is a large wooden block (a pole would have fitted in this to form the brush). A perforated wooden plate where boar bristles were placed.

History of Artefact It is from HMS Invincible which sank in 1758. The brush head has a broad arrow (roughly inscribed) to show that it was property of the government. It was used for brushing and scrubbing the decks.
