Artefact Name Ethiopian National Dress
Artefact Description White cotton, woven dress with blue and silver embroidery around the edge on both sides. Geometric pattern with diamond shapes.
The dress is accompanied by a shawl. It is transparent, soft cotton. A lining is worn underneath the dress.
Good condition.

History of Artefact In Ethiopia all national dresses have a shawl – some are made with double layers to keep warm. Sometimes the temperature can be very low in Ethiopia. The hottest month is May.
‘It was bought in Ethiopia by a friend as a present for me. The cotton is woven and grown locally.’
