| Artefact Description | Gun Breech rope (40lb). Very poor condition. Weathered by sea and pollution. Originally made of Manila. The rope is Hawser Laid and pointed at each end. 30ft in length and 3 inches in width. |

| History of Artefact | The Gun Breech rope (40lb) is used to hold the gun in place and it controls the gun recoil - Armstrong Breech Loader. There are four upper-deck 40lb guns. Other guns are 110lb Breech Loader and 68lb Muzzle Loader. |
