They were found with a peppermill inside the till of a chest. Used by rich men to flavour food. Only a rich man could afford a peppermill! For individual use only. ‘It’s incredible to find peppercorns from the wreck – they would have been very expensive at the time and you wouldn’t think they would survive this long!’ Historian - Andy Elkerton |
