PUBLIC ART
The artwork is displayed alongside the archive number, age and artefact title. All visuals produced and data collected from the investigation i.e. photo of participant, photo of artefact, special memory and location in Portsmouth produce a completed piece of investigation which may be used in future artworks or publications.
Colour is the link through all stages of the Artwork and science. The artworks and visual imagery is then translated into the Public Realm through projections, this website and for the future a possibility of a Public Light Sculpture to be located back into the city.
Different locations will display artworks adding to the visual
Treasure Hunt.
Projections - Visual Treasures
Projections took place in 2 locations and evenings in Portsmouth City Centre with the technical support of Mark Haig of
Applied Visual Artists in 2007. Future projections are to take place in the city during 2008.
The projections impact is the scale, to see the artwork where the origin came from a fibre so minute working visually on such an enlarged scale makes a normally invisible world visible and accessible to all.
Portsmouth Cathedral Exhibition - Visual Treasures
August 13-31st Installations and Projections.
Projection evenings will take place on 14th and 15th of August
The Cathedral is a clear and light coloured space which will work well with the contrast of colour artworks created from Treasure Island. The installation of coloured works in a Cathedral where unusually there are clear glass windows, will allow the exhibit to act like a contemporary version of stained glass responding to the surrounding architecture.
The Cathedral's historic roots and a location for the forensic investigation will be an ideal host for Treasure Island.
Projections of Artworks will take place over 2 evenings. These will be projected onto the Cathedrals archways and columns.
A large floor installation 8m x 4m approx on one side of the central walkway using similar materials envisaged in the proposed Public Light Sculpture. The installation will use Treasure Island Artworks- microscopic structures and archive as inspiration.

Billboards or Hoardings -Visual Treasures
Hoardings will be erected during the re-development of Portsmouth in the Northern Quarter of the city centre; this could create an opportunity to display Treasure Islands visuals as well as artworks.
Website International - Visual Treasures
The City Forensics website is a joint development and collaboration between Seran Kubisa and Dr Marcus Coles scientist and technology developer. They have previously collaborated on Science-Art projects at Cambridge University and the University of Southampton -
Details of residency
The website will continue to grow as more investigations are taking place and artworks created. It contains data of the artefact, participant, location and special memory. All artworks created are on view here. Its interactive layout permits users in Portsmouth and nationally to add any memories they have about this unique city.
Light Sculpture -Treasure Trove
A preliminary design for a Public Light Sculpture, inspired by the current artworks and investigation data, has been designed using innovative and unusual materials. Final designs are dependent on future funding, sponsorship and location.
